And kitchenmumsecrets is my little corner of the internet!
I launched kitchenmumsecrets in the spring of 2017 while I was still teaching kindergarten in Portland, Oregon. I started the blog as a way to keep track of the quick, kid‑friendly meals I was inventing for my classroom snack table. What began as a handful of posts on my home computer quickly turned into a habit—I’d write a new recipe after every school week.
Fast forward to today, and kitchenmumsecrets has become a full‑time adventure. The site now hosts more than 150 recipes, reaches about 45,000 unique visitors each month, and sends a newsletter to 12,000 hungry subscribers. In March 2022 we were featured in Foodie Magazine, and I’ve started a quarterly “Family Meal Planner” PDF that’s been downloaded over 3,200 times. I’m grateful that a simple idea has grown into a community where busy parents swap tips, ask questions, and celebrate the messes that happen in the kitchen.
I live in Asheville, North Carolina, with my husband Jake and our two little tornadoes, Maya (5) and Finn (2). When I’m not whisking batter or answering comments, you’ll find me tending to my tomato garden, sipping a strong cup of coffee on the porch, or rolling dice for a board‑game night with the family. My favorite kitchen sounds are the sizzle of a hot pan and the giggle of a child tasting something for the first time. If you ever swing by the blog, you’ll probably see a photo of my dog, Biscuit, perched on the countertop waiting for a stray crumb.
